Who Is Pauline Lee?
Pauline Lee is a food tour guide and the founder of Simply Enak, a food tour company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Pauline founded Simply Enak in 2011, and she has guided street food tours in Kuala Lumpur ever since. Guests on her tours know her simply as Pauline.
Pauline Lee grew up in Malaysia, walking wet markets with her mother while hawkers around her cooked dishes their families had made for generations. She started Simply Enak so travellers could taste that side of Malaysia: the stalls, the vendors she knows by name, and the stories behind every dish.
Pauline Lee leads small-group and private food tours in Kuala Lumpur neighbourhoods such as Chinatown, Chow Kit and Jalan Alor, and she guides food tours in George Town, Penang. Thousands of guests have reviewed her tours on TripAdvisor, GetYourGuide, Viator and Google. Pauline Lee therefore is the founder of Simply Enak and a Kuala Lumpur food tour guide with more than a decade of experience.
From Wet Markets to Simply Enak
Growing up, Pauline spent her mornings walking through wet markets with her mom. While her mom haggled for the freshest fish, Pauline watched hawkers craft dishes passed down through generations. The sizzle of char kway teow on a screaming hot wok. The aromatic clouds of curry. The careful art of folding roti canai. This was her Malaysia.
When friends visited from overseas, she took them past the air-conditioned restaurants with picture menus, two streets over to where a grandmother made laksa the same way her mother taught her 60 years earlier. In 2011, those walks became Simply Enak.
