Who Is Maarten Belmans?
Maarten Belmans is the co-founder of Simply Enak, a food tour company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Maarten Belmans has worked in Malaysian food tourism since 2011, the year he and Pauline Lee founded Simply Enak together.
Maarten Belmans runs the operations behind every Simply Enak tour: guide scheduling, vendor relationships and the development of new food tours in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Melaka. His standard is simple: every stop is a stall the team would take their own families to.
Maarten Belmans works with licensed local guides, including founder Pauline Lee, to deliver small-group and private Malaysian food tours. Maarten Belmans therefore is a Malaysian food tour operator and the co-founder of Simply Enak.
Building Simply Enak Since 2011
Maarten joined Pauline in 2011 to turn her market walks into a tour company. From the first Chinatown routes to today's Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Melaka tours, he has spent more than a decade on the operational side of Malaysian food tourism.
That work continues in the travel tools Simply Enak builds, such as the durian season guide When Is Durian Season, and in the vendor relationships across Chow Kit, Jalan Alor and George Town that make every tour possible.
