About This Tour

Simply Enak's after-dark crawl reveals hidden speakeasy bars and forbidden tales.

KL after dark is a different city. The day's heat fades, the street art catches the last light, and hidden doors open to bars that were invisible at noon. We meet at Pasar Seni MRT station - the gateway to KL's arts district. From here, we walk through the backstreets of Chinatown as the street art murals emerge in the evening light. Your guide will tell you about the artists behind each piece - local talents who turned KL's alleyways into an open-air gallery. First stop: a rooftop bar overlooking Merdeka 118, Southeast Asia's tallest building. We watch the sunset with handcrafted cocktails and local appetisers. Next, we find a speakeasy hidden behind what looks like a phone booth. Inside, it's one of Asia's 50 Best Bars. The bartenders use local ingredients - palm sugar, pandan, young coconut, and Malaysian tea. Between bars, we follow backstreet routes through KL's old core. Your guide shares stories of the gangster history of Petaling Street, the colonial scandals, and how KL went from mining camp to metropolis. We end the night at a late-night hawker spot that only opens after 10pm. Taxi drivers, bar staff, and club-goers come here to refuel. We share satay, char kway teow, and sugarcane juice while your guide tells you why this stall has been feeding the night crowd for thirty years. This tour runs from 4pm to 8pm. Limited to 8 people. Includes one welcome cocktail, two speakeasy drinks, and a full late-night meal.

Common Questions

Questions We Often Hear

What happens if it rains?

We tour rain or shine — many of our best food discoveries are under covered walkways and indoor markets. In rare cases of extreme weather we'll reschedule or refund.

Do we get to meet the vendors?

That's the whole point. We take you to family-run stalls where the owner will shake your hand, show you their technique, and share the story behind their recipe. It's not a restaurant visit — it's a visit to someone's life's work.

Can children join the tour?

Absolutely. Kids under 6 join free, and our guides know how to keep them engaged. The walking pace is gentle with plenty of seating stops. Let us know ages when booking so we can prepare.

What if I have a food allergy?

Flag it when you book and we'll brief your guide. Malaysian cooking uses peanuts, shrimp paste, and soy frequently — but we know which stalls can accommodate and which to avoid. We take allergies seriously.

Is the tour suitable for solo travellers?

Very much so. Around 30% of our guests come alone. You'll be in a small group of 2-8 people, and our guides are experts at bringing everyone into the conversation. Many solo travellers tell us it's the highlight of their trip.

What's included in a private tour?

Everything on a join-in tour, plus a fully customisable route, your own dedicated guide, flexible timing, and the freedom to linger where you want. It's your evening — you set the pace.

Do you offer private tours?

Your guide will confirm the exact meeting point after booking. We always meet at a recognisable landmark — a train station exit or a well-known building — with clear directions.

What's your cancellation policy?

No stress. Message your guide and they'll adjust the route so you don't miss the best parts. We build buffer time into every tour.

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead so we can confirm availability with our vendors.

How quickly do you respond?

We reply within 3 hours during business hours (9am-8pm Malaysia time). On WhatsApp it is usually within minutes.

What happens if it rains?

Tours run rain or shine. Many food stops have covered seating. In extreme weather we will reschedule.

Is the food spicy?

Malaysian food has heat, but your guide will help navigate spice levels. Mild options are always available.
