Over Deze Tour

Explore KL's largest wet market and eat where locals have eaten for generations — Pudu's side-street stalls serve dishes perfected over decades.

Pudu is the neighbourhood that Jalan Alor used to be before the tourists found it. It sits just south of Chinatown, a dense warren of streets where residential apartments sit above ground-floor shops and the street food is made for people who live here, not for visitors passing through. We meet at the main entrance of Pudu Market — KL's largest wet market, open since 4 AM. Your guide walks you through the market's morning chaos: the spice piles, the seafood buckets, the poultry section where vendors have had the same spots for thirty years. You taste fresh-cut fruits and sample local snacks as you go. First proper stop: the apam balik stall at the corner of Jalan Pasar and Jalan Sayur. This crispy pancake filled with sweet corn and crushed peanuts has been operating since the 1980s. Next: the popiah stall at the market entrance. Each spring roll is rolled to order — the skin so thin you can see the filling through it. The main event is Hokkien mee from Stall 15 along the market's exterior wall. Thick yellow noodles stir-fried in dark soy sauce with pork, squid, and cabbage — cooked in pork lard for a richness vegetable oil cannot match. We finish at the morning hawker section for wantan mee: springy noodles, caramelised char siew, and wantan dumplings filled with pork and prawn. This tour runs from 8am to 11am. Limited to 8 people. All food and drinks included.

Questions We Often Hear

What happens if it rains?

We tour rain or shine — many of our best food discoveries are under covered walkways and indoor markets. In rare cases of extreme weather we'll reschedule or refund.

Do we get to meet the vendors?

That's the whole point. We take you to family-run stalls where the owner will shake your hand, show you their technique, and share the story behind their recipe. It's not a restaurant visit — it's a visit to someone's life's work.

Can children join the tour?

Absolutely. Kids under 6 join free, and our guides know how to keep them engaged. The walking pace is gentle with plenty of seating stops. Let us know ages when booking so we can prepare.

What if I have a food allergy?

Flag it when you book and we'll brief your guide. Malaysian cooking uses peanuts, shrimp paste, and soy frequently — but we know which stalls can accommodate and which to avoid. We take allergies seriously.

Is the tour suitable for solo travellers?

Very much so. Around 30% of our guests come alone. You'll be in a small group of 2-8 people, and our guides are experts at bringing everyone into the conversation. Many solo travellers tell us it's the highlight of their trip.

What's included in a private tour?

Everything on a join-in tour, plus a fully customisable route, your own dedicated guide, flexible timing, and the freedom to linger where you want. It's your evening — you set the pace.

Do you offer private tours?

Your guide will confirm the exact meeting point after booking. We always meet at a recognisable landmark — a train station exit or a well-known building — with clear directions.

What's your cancellation policy?

No stress. Message your guide and they'll adjust the route so you don't miss the best parts. We build buffer time into every tour.

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead so we can confirm availability with our vendors.

How quickly do you respond?

We reply within 3 hours during business hours (9am-8pm Malaysia time). On WhatsApp it is usually within minutes.

What happens if it rains?

Tours run rain or shine. Many food stops have covered seating. In extreme weather we will reschedule.

Is the food spicy?

Malaysian food has heat, but your guide will help navigate spice levels. Mild options are always available.
