Overview
A tasting tour of two cities
This three-day package covers Malaysia's two defining food cities in one trip. Start in Kuala Lumpur, where Chinese, Malay, and Indian influences collide at wet markets, hawker stalls, and supper streets. Then take the first-class train north to Penang for a day and a half of the island's Hokkien-Malay-Nyonya cooking.
Your guide stays with you the whole way. No hand-offs, no waiting for a different person each day. Every meal, every market walk, every transfer has been planned so you spend your time tasting, not deciding.
All food and drink is included. So are private airport transfers, the KL-to-Penang train, and hotel pickups within city centre. You only need to arrange your flights and accommodation.

FAQ
Common questions
What is the maximum group size?
This package is a private tour. Your group size is whatever you bring. Groups larger than 8 people can be accommodated with advance notice. Contact us for a custom quote.
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and halal diets can be managed. Let us know at least 48 hours before the tour starts so we can prepare alternatives at each stop.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes. Children aged 6 and above will enjoy the range of flavours. Kids under 6 join at a reduced rate. The walking pace is relaxed with frequent stops.
Can I book this as a solo traveller?
Absolutely. Solo travellers pay the private tour rate and get a guide all to themselves. Many of our guests travel alone and say the guide becomes a friend by day two.
What is the best season for this tour?
Malaysia is warm year-round. The driest months are December to February and June to July. Rain is common in the afternoons regardless of season, which is why we plan morning-heavy itineraries.
What kind of accommodation do you recommend?
We recommend mid-range hotels in the city centre for easy access to food spots. In KL, areas like Bukit Bintang or Chinatown work well. In Penang, Georgetown city centre is ideal. We share specific recommendations after booking.
How much walking is involved?
Moderate walking across both cities. Each day involves roughly 2-3 hours on foot at a gentle pace, spread across the day. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Can I extend my stay in Penang?
Yes. Many guests add extra days in Penang after the tour ends. Your guide can suggest side trips or help you extend the package to include Balik Pulau or a cooking class.
Ready to eat your way across Malaysia?
Book this package and taste KL and Penang back-to-back with a guide who knows every stall, every vendor, and every dish worth crossing town for.
