There’s nothing in this world like the food you will find in Malaysia during Hari Raya. Don’t get me wrong, we have amazing food all year round and for special occasions, but the delicacies served during Hari Raya are at the top of most of our tourists’ “must-have” lists.
The Chinese Dumpling Festival is the perfect time to plan your Malaysian getaway and indulge in one of the most delicious delicacies that can be found at any festival time. The Bak Chang or Zhong in Cantonese and Zhang in Hokkien. These are glutinous rice dumplings stuffed with various fillings, and wrapped in bamboo or lotus leaves. They can be triangle shaped, square or round. But the shape doesn’t matter, they are all delicious. Just ask anyone who had been here during festival time and tried them. And they can be sweet, spicy, savory or all of the above. It all depends on who you buy them from and what part of Malaysia they have been influenced by.
An adventure to Malaysia is exciting. There are so many new things to see, taste, smell and do. There’s the beach, exotic foods, great people to meet, hundreds of different ethnic groups to learn about, and amazing nightlife. But there is more to experience in Malaysia than just everyday life. For instance, New Orleans is a great town to visit year-round, but the best time to visit is of course on Mardi Gras.
If you’ve been to Kuala Lumpur before, you may have already seen many of the larger attractions from KLCC to the Botanical Gardens. A lot of tourists we get are return visitors and are looking for something a little more or off the beaten path. So we have decided to put together a list of attractions for those who are keen to explore an alternative side of Kuala Lumpur.
Taking a cruise to Malaysia is a fun and exciting way to arrive. You’ll get to see the many forested islands as you weave your way up the Malacca Strait and dock at Port Klang just south-west of Kuala Lumpur. And once you dock, there are a few things you can do and although I strongly suggest a day trip to Kuala Lumpur to get a real feel for Malaysia and its capital, I do recommend understanding the travel times to make sure the cruise doesn’t leave without you.
I like to joke with tourists to bring an extra bag or suitcase when they are preparing for their trip to Malaysia. Why?
